Celebrating a Landmark Year!

As we reflect on 2024, we’re overwhelmed with gratitude for another incredible year serving our community. Thanks to YOU, our supporters, we accomplished so much together! Here’s a snapshot of what we achieved this year:

Highlights from 2024

Provided Over 1 Million Meals!

  • Backpack Program: Provided 35,500 weekend backpacks, totaling 285,000 meals plus 248,000 snacks and sides!
  • Market on Market (MoM): 1,000 families shopped for 584,000 meals!
  • Food Farmacy: Supplied 120,000 meals to children via vast our partner network!
  • Mobile MoM: Launched and distributed 16,139 meals in its few months rolling out!

Big Milestones:

  • Designed, built, and launched the Mobile Market on Market thanks to the New Hanover Community Endowment! In 2025, we’ll expand to new locations with additional support from the Burevitch Foundation.
  • Launched a Hispanic bag menu for the Backpack Program, now in 10 schools with lots more coming in 2025.
  • Hired our first Market Manager, Matt – he’s already doing awesome things!
  • Purchased 35% of our food from minority-owned businesses.

· Recognition and Awards:

  • 2024 Smart Start Starfish Award for Public Advocacy.
  • New Hanover County Equity Award for a Non-Profit.
  • Cape Fear CREW Awards finalist for Economic & Community Enhancement.
  • Our own Lambeth Chalk was named a Wilmington Chamber 40 Under 40 honoree and appointed to the New Hanover County Hispanic/Latino Commission.
  • Celebrated Board Member Ray Worrell with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
