NourishNC is excited to announce the launch of the Mobile Market on Market (the Mobile MoM!). The Mobile MoM is a custom-built, one-of-a-kind, food market that revolutionizes nourishment for food insecure children and their families by providing groceries right in their neighborhoods, schools, and at other nonprofits. The Mobile MoM takes the best part of NourishNC’s existing “Market on Market” but meets children who struggle with hunger right where they live, learn and play. The Mobile MoM features a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies, dairy, eggs, meat, and other nonperishable items.
Starting this school year, NourishNC will partner with Dorothy B Johnson Pre-K where the Mobile MoM will be anchored to provide groceries for the entire school year. The evidence is clear that proper nutrition during these early childhood years is critical. Dietary habits formed at that age correlate directly to health outcomes throughout the rest of children’s lives. NourishNC was the recipient of a grant awarded in 2024 by the New Hanover Community Endowment. Grant funding made it possible to purchase a 35-foot custom truck fully equipped with concession windows, freezer, refrigerator, storage space and display racks. We are very grateful to the New Hanover Community Endowment for making this dream become a reality and for making such a big impact in the lives of children who struggle with hunger.
