Feed More. Store More. Do More
Steve McCrossan, Executive Director
We did it! Our new warehouse annex and walk-in cooler are finally finished! Special thanks to The Endowment, Jean & Eric Rosenberg, Dr. Ivan and Angela David, Wilmington Rotary Club, the American Red Cross Community Adaption Program, Cannon Foundation, and all the folks who helped make our dreams come true.
Why is This So Important?
- Storage Expansion: 60% more food storage capacity with 66 new pallet bays!
- Emergency Response Zone: Covered, all-weather drive-thru for disaster preparation and emergency food distribution.
- Dedicated Mobile MoM Staging Area: Streamlined restocking and storage for our mobile grocery store.
- Cold Storage Upgrade: Our new 16×20 walk-in cooler doubles our fresh food storage capacity.
- Smarter Storage, Smaller Aisles: A forklift picker allows us to shrink aisle widths and maximize storage capacity.
What’s Next?
- Stock disaster relief supplies: Keep food, water, and essential supplies on hand so families can get immediate, reliable support when crisis hits.
- Create systems: Design a high-throughput, no-friction drive-thru food distribution system that prioritizes speed, dignity, caloric density, and convenience.
- Test It: Put the system into action before it’s needed. Practice, pressure-test, and fine-tune it so it runs smoothly and confidently when it matters most.
Stay tuned for more updates.
