NourishNC is excited to announce some recent achievements within our staff. Executive Director Steve McCrossan was honored with the Starfish Award for Public Advocacy at the 2024 Smart Start of New Hanover County’s Breakfast of Champions. This recognition underscores Steve’s dedication to advocating for children’s well-being in our community.

In addition, our Development and Communications Director, Heather Sellgren, achieved her CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) certification. This certification is globally recognized and accredited, highlighting Heather’s expertise and commitment to fundraising excellence.

We are incredibly proud of Steve and Heather’s accomplishments and grateful for their contributions to NourishNC’s mission of nourishing children and strengthening our community. Join us in congratulating them on these well-deserved honors!

The Backpack Program provides food insecure children, pre-K through 5th grade, with three nutritious meals a day, every weekend, and over every school break.
