NourishNC’s Backpack Program keeps growing!

Thanks to our supporters, NourishNC distributes 1200 weekend backpacks every week to children across 36 schools in New Hanover County. This amounts to nearly 40,000 meals each month for food insecure children right here in our community.

Each backpack is thoughtfully packed with eight intentional meals and snacks to help children get through the weekend when they may otherwise go without. Our amazing Warehouse Team carefully curates a rotating menu, ensuring children are always receiving nutritious, diverse meals.  We’re also thrilled to report that the Hispanic menu option we piloted last year has expanded from 3 schools to 10 schools this year! This initiative ensures that we are providing culturally appropriate meals for more children in our community, addressing their unique preferences.

Thank you to those who are committed to making a profound difference in the lives of these children and their families. Thank you for being a part of this important work and helping us nourish our community’s future!
